Our fully sustainable approach

Sustainability is the buzzword for any business. But to us, it means more than just ticking boxes. More than just using a few recycled materials here and there.

It’s about the entire process, from initial ideas to the choice of fabric, right through manufacture to delivery at your door. And it doesn’t even end there. We use recycled and regenerated materials from responsible sources at every opportunity. We work to minimise the negative impacts associated with manufacturing and to ensure that all workers involved are treated fairly and respectfully throughout the process. But we cannot do it alone. That’s why we recruit organisations and partners that are constantly innovating to help us achieve our sustainability goals.

Our selected fabrics

Our fabrics are made from rPET, (recycled polyethylene terephthalate). rPET is a material made from 100% recycled PET. It can also be 100% recycled itself. It is therefore a material that allows us to enter a circular economy.

Our fabric are produced in a grs certified mill. the global recycled standard (grs) is an international, voluntary standard that establishes a series of requirements for third-party certification.this allows verification of all aspects of the manufacturing process, including the content of recyclables, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions. the goal of the grs is not only to increase the use of recycled materials on a global scale, but to also reduce or, even better, eliminate the harm caused by its production entirely. so, definitely something worthy of investment then.

 

We are PFC Free

PFCs  (Perfluorochemicals) are chemical compounds with properties that can create waterproof, antiadhesive and fireproof materials. They have been used in everyday products for more than 50 years. Sounds fine, right? Wrong! These compounds are highly toxic, and, even in small doses, actually affect our hormonal and reproductive systems. So, why are we still using them? For some unfathomable reason, most brands are happily churning out PFC products this very moment. Not us. All Rainodd products are examples of PFC-free membrane rainwear. This membrane is a thin layer that retains water on the outside while keeping everything nice and breathable on the inside.

 

Packaging

Less is more. Our aim is to reduce packaging in every way possible, next to throwing your poncho through your letterbox unwrapped. Long gone are the days of receiving your garment mummified in plastic, enshrined in an oversized box. Rainodd has partnered with Noissue and Eco-alliance for their incredibly cool and fully compostable mailers.
